It has been less one year since the COVID19 pandemic ravaged through our communities, and with it came an accentuation of the importance in maintenance of good personal hygiene habits. Despite its decline, we cannot afford to be complacent due to the lingering danger posed by infectious diseases in our communities, the most recent being the recent outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in Mubende and Kassandra districts in Uganda.
Infectious Diseases such as EVD and COVID19 are easily spread due to the resilience of these viruses outside the body, lingering on surfaces for an extended period of time thus increasing chances of an unwitting individual getting exposed to them and subsequently getting sick as a result.
Periodic washing of hands and disinfection of surfaces greatly reduces the chances of infection as it has been found to be the most efficient method of purging one's surroundings of such viruses.
Avoid touching soft parts of the face as they are most vulnerable to infiltration by pathogens, and ensure to cough/sneeze in your elbow as doing so in your hands makes you more infective to others

In conclusion, the discipline instilled during and as a result of the COVID19 outbreak ought to be part and parcel of our daily lives as a means of curbing resurgence of dangerous preventable infectious diseases in our communities.
